Dutchman Ron Loos moved with his wife Marieta and daughter Shanna in 2004 from the Philippines to Port Douglas to join the Tech Dive Academy Team.

Ron lived ten years in Puerto Galera, in the Philippines where he owned a little Restaurant called the Relax Thai (where Mark and Targa kept coming back for the Thai grilled beef salad!), and worked for different Dive Resorts.

Ron got into Technical Diving in 1999 under the guidance of John Bennett - World Record holder Deepest Open Ocean dive - with whom he used to train everyday in the local gym.

John trained Ron up to the level of Trimix Diver. Already a PADI Instructor the move to cross over to TDI Instructor was a logical step to take.

Ron and John worked together for three years in Atlantis Dive Resort before John left to start up Tech Dive Academy in Port Douglas.

On Johns World Record Dive in 2001, Ron was the first support diver who met John at his 100m stop and sent a slate to the surface to notify the rest of the Support Team which deco schedule John was on.

Ron's friend Rob Lalumiere who broke the World Record Deep Wreck diving on May 29th, 2005 in Ormoc, Philippines was trained by Ron. Ron was also the lead support diver on this particular World Record Deep Wreck dive.

In his free time, he likes to run with Mark, train in his gym or play with his 6 year old daughter Shanna in the pool.
